Public tours leave every Friday and Saturday night at 8:30 p.m. between September 26 and November 29, and groups can arrange for tours at other days or times. Participants walk along the streets and alleys of historic Ellicott City while guides tell stories of the strange and unexplained events that have taken place in this historic town. Tour tickets are honored for specials and discounts at Ellicott City shops and restaurants that bear the "Ghost-Friendly Tourism Partner" sign.

Ninety-minute public tours through the historic district of downtown Frederick depart at 9 p.m. on Saturday nights between June and September, and on Fridays at 8 p.m. and Saturdays at 7 and 9 p.m. from October 10 through November 8. Groups can schedule the tour any time throughout the year by reservation. The tours take participants on a hair-raising walk past sites that include the National Museum of Civil War Medicine, the Barbara Fritchie House and the Tyler-Spite House. Tours focus on the ghostly tales of the town, which was home to plenty of Civil War history and many colorful characters.

Hour-long public tours run on Friday and Saturday nights in October with departures at 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. The tour is also available to groups throughout the year by reservation. Among the stories that are shared on the walking tour are the town's famous murder of 1910 and St. Michaels' connection to the War of 1812.
